Snowy Road tells a story of an aged woman, Jongbun, who is unable to live without the haunting memories of her past when she and her friend were persuaded, unknowingly, on to a train bound for Manchuria where they would become caught in a living hell as comfort women during Japanese Imperialism. This emotional journey of how she survived, escaped, and dealt with the memories that never left, brought the audience to a darker reality of the injustices and atrocities of war.

This was not the first time KBS won at the Prix Italia. KBS films also won in 1997 for Ashes of Time, in 2006 for the HD feature drama SÄYA SÄYA, and in 2011 for Don’t Cry for me Sudan. KBS is proud to have achieved such international successes over the past decade.

This movie premiered on KBS1TV on the 28th of February and 1st of March 2015 in commemoration of the Independence Movement Day, and was told in two 60-minute episodes.
