The Chronology opens the new year. Kim Jong-seok, Chief Producer, said that it aims to be as authentic as Shiji by Sima Qian and Samguksaki, History of the Three Kingdoms by Kim Boo-sik.

  • History Special: the Chronology of Korea, a documentary that accounts the history of Korea from prehistory era to the three kingdoms in 10 episodes, will be on air on the first day of January 2017 to usher in the New Year. Following the critical success of Imjinwaeran 1592, which documented the war of Korea, Japan and China while mixing documentary making and dramatic representation to delineate the political and economic backgrounds as well as the battlefields on land and the sea, the documentary will keep a close look at key scenes in the Korean history, using computer graphics and storytelling techniques.

Kim Jong-seok, Chief Producer responsible for the production of the history special, said that it aims to be as authentic as Shiji by Sima Qian and Samguksaki, History of the Three Kingdoms by Kim Boo-sik, so that it can be a history book for future reference. He added that the special will help the audience for clearer understanding about Korea and the surrounding environments.

From the prehistoric caves where the origins of the Korean people began to the fierce battlefields where the ancient three kingdoms, Goguryeo, Baekje and Silla fight against each other, the Chronology will be a pinnacle of the documentary production expertise and experience by KBS, which have been accumulated through such history programs as History Special and Korean Biographies. Starting with a prologue episode on the 31st of December, 2016, the documentary will be on Sunday night via KBS TV1.
