  • KBS won Top Excellence Award for Hallyu Drama for its drama series, Love in the Moonlight at the 12th Seoul International Drama Awards(SIDA) held on September 7, 2017 at KBS Hall. At the annual event, KBS also received Excellence Award for Short Drama for its drama production, Drama Special–Red Teacher.


    Love in the Moonlight is a fictional historical drama set in the 19th century Joseon Dynasty based on the novel Moonlight Drawn by Clouds. The series depicts a love story of Crown Prince Lee Yeong (Park Bo Gum), a rebel prince who aspires for change in his community, and Ra-On(Kim Yoo Jung), an ordinary girl that will do everything even as far as pretending to be a man just to find her mother. Broadcast via KBS TV2 from August to October 2016, the 18 part series was highly successful achieving an average viewer rating of 22.5%. In April this year, Love in the Moonlight was recognized with Platinum Remi at the WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival.


    KBS Drama Special-Red Teacher is a 80-minute short drama aired in September 2016. In the program which is set in 1985, Tae-Nam(Lee Dong-Hwi) finds banned erotic book at the book store. The banned book spreads among the girls at the high school. The novel ends with "to be continued." The students become curious about the second volume and Soon-Duk(Jung So-Min) decides to write the second volume for her friends.


    KBS continues its strong presence at the Seoul International Drama Awards as the phenomenally popular romantic drama of KBS, Descendants of the Sun, won Top Excellence Award for Hallyu Drama at the last year’s competition. Also, its lead actor Song Joong-ki was named Best Actor and K-pop singer Gummy, who sings the drama’s title music, garnered the Best Theme Song award in 2016.


    The Seoul International Drama Awards saw the highest number of entries since it first started in 2006. A total of 226 programs from 55 countries around the globe entered the annual TV competition.
