  • KBS and the Indonesian Private Television Association(ATVSI) expressed their commitment to enhance cooperation, especially in the field of TV co-production.


    ATVSI Secretary-General Neil Tobing visited KBS Headquarters in Yeouido on 29 June 2018 and met with KBS Executive Vice President Jung Pil-mo.


    KBS Executive Vice President Jung Pil-mo welcomed the visit by the Indonesian media delegation and emphasized that KBS has been maintaining its close relationship with public service broadcasters of Indonesia under the umbrella of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union(ABU). Mr. Jung said KBS has developed cooperative relations with Televisi Republik Indonesia(TVRI), particularly through news exchange since the two organizations signed the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation.

    Mr. Jung added that the KBS Music Bank World Series in Jakarta, held in September 2017, gained an overwhelming response from its audience in Indonesia. Also, Mr. Jung explained that Indonesian broadcasters can join international co-production initiatives such as the ABU CARE documentary co-production project and the Asian Pitch, a joint funding program for independent documentary makers in the region. Executive Vice President Jung said KBS will continue efforts to enhance mutual cooperation with Indonesian media.


    During the meeting, Mr. Tobing introduced the Indonesia Broadcasting Expo(IBX) which will be organized by ATVSI in December 2018. Secretary-General Tobing said KBS has been invited to IBX and a wide range of KBS content will be showcased at the event. Also, Mr. Bapak Agung Suprio, Commissioner of the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission, accompanied with Mr. Tobing, added that Indonesia has a keen interest in co-production with KBS stressing that Korea and Indonesia share many similarities as both countries are located in Asia. Mr. Suprio said that Indonesia would like to strengthen its relationship with KBS through various forms of cooperation initiatives.
