The public broadcaster KBS has two television channels and one satellite channel that provide high-quality programs.
- TV 1 (the only commercial-free channel in Korea)
As Korea’s leading public channel, KBS TV1 provides diverse programs dealing with news, current affairs,
sports and education that target all viewers. It provides outstanding news services, which attest to KBS’
status as a public broadcaster, and reflects public interest in current affairs, humanity issues, the environment
and culture. It also deals with topics of national interest and contributes to social integration. Funded by
our viewers’ receiving fees, KBS TV1 can air programs without interrupting them with TV commercials.
- TV2 (a sound culture channel for families)
To provide diverse high-quality programs that also stand apart from programs airing on TV1,
KBS TV2 presents viewers with a wide choice of shows and protects them from provocative commercial
programs. This channel mainly broadcasts TV dramas and variety shows.
- KBS WORLD (global satellite channel)
Using international satellites, this channel broadcasts news programs in real time as well as
other KBS shows selected specifically for international audiences. It also brings together ethnic Koreans
living overseas by allowing them to share in the culture of their homeland, and aims to become a global
