Walking along Dongbaek habitat to Sunset observatory in Hongdo island

No matter how long have you been waiting, if the weather is fickle, you have no choice, but to give up your journey at sea. That’s why 2-hour-long way to the island is always crowded with visitors. It’s not where you can go whenever you want. When the sea makes you the way, we need to head for the island right away, where the whole island sparkles redly at sunset.

▲ Having been on the ship for two hours and a half, I felt somewhat comfortable. Yet, when the ship arrived at the island, it just went back. I had no idea what to do then. I found a tourist information center and picked up a map of the island and started my journey.

▲ Because of the bad weather, I had to give up my journey to the island several times. Finally, I arrived there after many trials.

▲ On our way to the Dongbaek habitat there is an exhibition hall of Hongdo island displaying rare wild plants and animals.

▲ But, the real nature in Hongdo island was much better. Located at the end of the nation, every part of the island is still fresh green even during the winter.

▲ It’s still early in December, so Dongbaek are not yet bloomed.

▲ Under the shadow of trees, a wild flower sprays its fragrance.

▲ Deep in the forest, there is a shrine where to pray for a big catch of fish on lunar New Year’s Eve.

▲ There are not only Dongbaek trees, but also some other trees like silver magnolia trees and nut trees which are common in Jeju.

▲ It’s hard to find the fruits of nut trees in Jeju these days, but I got some of them from a good farmer which seemed to be that she had been picking them all day long. They were so savoury.

▲ After a long time, finally I met the sky. At the end of observatory, you can get a panoramic ocean view of Hongdo island.

▲ Passing by rough stonewall street, district 1 of Hongdo island appears. There are two districts in Hongdo and people live here at district 1 and passenger ships come and go here.

▲ At Dangsanrim Forest, it was so green and fresh, but here the road to the sunset observatory looks so different. Indigo blue sea also stretches out in front of me.

▲ Climbing the way to the top, then I met the sea again and this traveler fell far its deep blue sea.
