The popularity of the movie `April Snow,` starring Bae Yong-joon and Son Ye-jin, has surpassed that of Hollywood blockbusters in Japan. The Nikan Sports wrote on May 13 that 20,224 tickets for `April Snow` have been sold since April 29 in major theaters in nine Japanese cities. That exceeds the 18,950 tickets sold by the Hollywood blockbuster `Tomorrow` by director Roland Emmerich, which opened in Japan in the fall of last year. `April Snow` made headlines in Japan when some 2,600 tickets were sold on April 29 alone, the first day the movie`s ticket went on sale, at a Tokyo theater that was selected as the premier theater to show the movie, and created a sensation by selling tickets five months prior to its opening in the coming fall. |
