The middle-aged hallyu singer Yoo Yeol will give his first benefit solo concert in Japan at the Big Eye Hall on Nov. 23 at 3 p.m. to support `Hometown House,` a welfare facility for elderly Korean-Japanese. `Hometown House` accommodates senior ethnic Koreans and Japanese who live alone. Yoo will invite them to his concert and donate all proceeds from the concert to the facility. Yoo says he hopes that his concert will console to some extent ethnic Koreans who were forced to go to Japan during Japanese colonization and were unable to return to their homeland. The concert will take place at a hall accommodating 1,000 people. Yoo is already well-known in Japan for the series `Winter Sonata` and has an extensive fan base there. Last December he also released in Japan an album containing his best songs from the 1987-2005 period through the record company Columbia Records. In `Winter Sonata` Yoo plays a host of a music program and an older friend of Park Yong-ha, who plays a radio producer. The song `Violets,` which Yoo performed in the series, also gained popularity among Japanese viewers. Yoo, who is leaving for Japan Nov. 22, says his first solo concert in Japan will have great meaning in his music career. At the concert, he will perform `From Beginning To End,` the theme song of `Winter Sonata,` and `Violets` as well as his latest songs `Always On My Mind` and `Just The Way You Are.` After returning to Korea Nov. 24, Yoo will hold a charity concert on Dec. 4 at the Millennium Hall of Keonkuk University. |
