To mark the 60th anniversary of Korea's liberation from Japan's colonial rule, G.O.D, TVXQ and Yoon Do-hyun's Band will stage joint concerts with the world-renowned British Royal Philharmonic Orchestra May 13-15 at the World Cup Stadium in Sangam-dong, Seoul. The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra has performed with many top groups and artists since the 1970s, including Queen, Deep Purple, U2, Oasis, R.E.M. and Yanni. However, this will be the orchestra's first performance with Korean artists. The orchestra, which once performed "Korea Fantasy" by Korean composer Ahn In-taek (the writer of the Korean national anthem) in 1947 at Albert Hall in London, decided to visit Korea to mark the 60th anniversary of its liberation. The performance will be conducted by the orchestra's vice principal conductor Owain Arwel Huze. "The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra offered to perform together with G.O.D. because it believed that the group's outstanding dancing and vocal skills would fit well with a classical music atmosphere. The group accepted the proposal as this performance could serve as a good opportunity to experiment with a new genre," said G.O.D.'s agency on April 5. The performance will also feature the popular male group TVXQ. The group's agency said TVXQ is preparing thoroughly for the performance despite its busy schedule in Korea and Japan. The group has yet to decide on its repertoire for the concert. Yoon Do-hyun's Band will join the production on April 14. And on the following day, the master folk singer Kim Young-im will perform songs calling for world peace. |
