  • BoA's Album Beats All Records in Japan
  • [2005-04-06]
  • BoA's first album released in Japan has recorded an order quantity of 1.2 million copies, and one of her hit singles has become the first to top the weekly Oricon Chart in the single category.

"BoA's album 'Best of Soul' recorded an order quantity of 1.2 million copies as of April 4, while the sales of her 15th single 'Do the Motion' surpassed 200,000 copies, taking the top spot on the weekly Oricon Chart," said BoA's agency SM Entertainment.

The agency also added that BoA's success was especially meaningful given the cutthroat competition in the J-pop market, where no other artist has topped the Oricon Chart with a single before.

Tickets for all eight of BoA's concerts in four Japanese cities have been sold out -- her first concert in Fukuoka on April 2 ended with a large ovation. However, BoA was unable to show off her impressive dancing skills due to a muscle strain in her right leg, which the singer apologized for on her website. She promised her fans she would be fully recovered by her next visit to Fukuoka.

On April 7, 9 and 10, BoA will stage the most grandiose performance of her current Japanese tour in Tokyo.
