  • The One Vows to Gain Recognition in Japan
  • [2005-04-19]
  • The news that singer K, a relative unknown for a long period of time, had topped the Japanese Oricon chart, an unattainable feat for even many Japanese artists, surprised not only Japanese but Korean music experts as well. Unlike other Korean artists who made inroads into Japan on the back of their popularity at home, K gained recognition of his talent in the Japanese music market solely through his efforts in that country alone.

Recently, another talented Korean musician has released his album in Japan. He is The One, who has trained famous groups such as Space A, Sugar and TVXQ. The One made his debut in Korea in September 2004 after a year of preparations, along with the help of famous artist/producer Kim Hyun-chul, who is known for having nurtured such top artists as Lee So-ra, Jang Pil-sun and Park Jung-hyun. Since his debut, The One has appeared in KBS` `Yoon Do-hyun`s Love Letter` and live music programs on M-net.

The One received an offer to try his luck in Japan from Yellow Production, a video content production company that has a well-established network in Japan. Believing in the artist`s great potential, the company released The One`s album on April 8 in cooperation with the large Japanese record company AVEX, which has also produced albums for big stars such as BoA and Amuro Namie.

The One`s album that has been released in Japan contains a disc with the same songs as his first album released in Korea in 2004 and another disc with music videos. Artist/songwriter Kim Hyun-chul wrote the majority of the 13 soul ballads in the album performed by The One with his heartfelt voice.
