  • [2004-11-11]
  • At the 17th Tokyo International Film Festival, which closed Oct. 31, Korean movie ` The President's Barber` won the Best Director Award and the Audience Award. A total of 15 movies competed fiercely at the Tokyo International Film Festival, the most authoritative film festival in Japan, which opened Oct. 23. `The President's Barber` was the only participating movie to win two awards. The Audience Award, which was conferred for the first time at this festival, is presented to a movie that receives the highest score from the audience through polls. When `The President's Barber` was shown at the festival Oct. 28, the Japanese audience, which filled the theater to the full, stayed in their seats until all the credits ran through the screen. At the press conference held right after the movie, Lim Chan Sang, director of `The President's Barber,` told the audience about the movie`s casting process and the movies he referred to when producing this movie, and answered audience`s questions on Korean modern history. At this festival, `The President's Barber` proved its high recognition not only in Korea but abroad as well.
