KBS TV 2's daily sit-com "Old Miss' Diary" (Mon-Fri, 9:25 p.m.), a
sequel to "Lovely Pet Dallae," which premiered Nov. 22, recorded the
viewer rating of 10.1 percent for the pilot episode, said viewer rating research
agency Nielsen Media Research. The rating appears to be much higher than the
average rating for "Lovely Pet Dallae" of 7.6 percent.
Viewers of the Daejeon area liked the new sit-com most of all, as the viewer rating reached 15.3 percent there, followed by Gwangju (12.3 percent), Daegu (11.6 percent) and Busan (11.5 percent) ? considerably higher than in Seoul (8.7 percent) and the Seoul metropolitan area (9.0 percent) summed together. By age group, women in their thirties were found to be the largest group of the sit-com's fans, recording the viewer rating of 7.0 percent.
The secret of "Old Miss' Diary" success lies in its plot featuring old women -- something sit-coms have never dealt with before. This sit-com breaks away from the stereotype that old women are out of touch with the modern world, and portrays them as spirited, vibrant and lovely personalities.
