  • Jang Nara Chosen Best Asian Woman Singer at "Asia-Pacific Music Awards"
  • [2005-08-01]
  • The Organizing Committee of the "Asia-Pacific Music Awards" in China chose singer Jang Nara as the winner of the Best Asian Female Singer Award on July 30. She also won the Most Outstanding Contributor to Korea-Chinese Cultural Exchange Award, a special prize.

At the same time, Jang's song "Quan Shi Jie Xia Yu (?????????)," the title song of her Chinese-version album entitled "Yi Zhang (????)," was chosen as one of the "10 Asian Golden Songs, 2004-2005."

The award ceremony and accompanying performance originally scheduled to be held at a gymnasium in the city of Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, China at 8:00 p.m. that day was delayed because Chinese public authorities did not approve the event for security reasons. The delay has put the only damper on Jang's accomplishment as the winner of the most awards from the "Asia-Pacific Music Awards" this year.

In a press conference held on July 30 at 6:00 p.m., the organizing committee merely announced the winners, saying, "The event will be delayed until September 2 because of Chinese authorities' concerns about insufficient safety, a lack of security personnel, and the nonparticipation of certain celebrities such as Cecilia Cheung (??????) and Qin Hailu (??????)."
