  • Bobby Kim Receives Cultural Exchange Award Ahead of Debut in Japan
  • [2010-11-12]
  • Singer and songwriter Bobby Kim (real name Kim Do Kyun, 37) has been chosen to receive the “2010 Korea and Japan Cultural Exchange Award,” his agency Oscar Entertainment announced on November 11.

Bobby Kim will participate in the award ceremony entitled “17th Korea-Japan Culture Exchange Night & 2010 Korea-Japan Cultural Exchange Award” held at the Seoul Garden Hotel in Mapogu on November 12 along with actor Jang Hyuk to receive the award in the category of cultural diplomacy. Bobby Kim garnered the award ahead of his first album release on November 17 in Japan and his live concert to be held at Akasaka Blitz Hall on November 19 in Tokyo.

His agency said, “In this situation where Korean girl groups have created new Hallyu in Japan, we anticipate that the activities in Japan by Bobby Kim, who is the so-called ‘Godfather of Soul,' will also contribute to spreading the diversity of K-POP in Japan."

Bobby Kim delivered his wishes by saying, “I want to become a musician who can be deeply rooted in the Japanese music industry. I do not want temporary popularity. I want to continuously achieve something in music in Japan and ultimately want the level of K-POP to be promoted to a higher rank.” He recently released a digital single entitled "You Aren't the Only One" along with hip hop singer Double K.
