  • JYJ Faces Setback by US Visa Disapproval
  • [2010-11-15]
  • JYJ will promote a free showcase instead by paying an additional cost.

The group JYJ, which consists of three of the former Dong Bang Shin Ki members (Youngwoong Jae Joong, Micky Yoo Chun, and Xiah Joon Soo) is now suffering a setback in holding a showcase in the US as they could not receive an appropriate performance visa from the US authorities. Their agency CJes Entertainment announced through their official English webpage for the Worldwide Showcase on November 12: “The performance visa (P1) issue had not been approved, so JYJ cannot hold the showcase as they had planned.”

JYJ had released a worldwide album entitled “The Beginning” and they have presented showcases in different cities. They originally planned to have showcases in New York on November 12, in Las Vegas on November 14, and in Los Angeles on November 19. Upon their lawyer’s advice, JYJ will promote the showcase as a free performance by paying an additional cost for the showcase production, flight tickets, and accommodation to proceed with the showcases. They announced that they would give a refund for people who had already purchased their showcase tickets and deliver the free tickets to their fans.

The representative for CJes Entertainment, Paek Chang Joo, said through the website, “Members had followed official procedures for being issued a performance visa by attending an interview, but we do not know exactly why the authorities had not approved their visa. Now we are waiting for the official response from the US authorities.”
