  • Kara Wins Best Dresser Awards in Japan
  • [2011-12-01]
  • Kara’s second album in Japan ranked atop the Oricon weekly chart.

The girl group Kara won the Best Dresser Awards in Japan following the previous winner Bae Yong Joon. Kara’s agency, DSP Media, said, “Kara was awarded in the international category at the ‘2011 Best Dresser Awards’ held on November 30 in Tokyo, Japan, and it was the second time that Korean stars garnered the award at the ceremony since Bae Yong Joon. As Han Seung Yeon and Kang Ji Young had a filming schedule for their dramas, only three group members, Park Kyu Ri, Koo Ha Ra, and Nicole, attended the awards ceremony.” The “Best Dresser Awards” was established by Japanese Men’s Fashion Association in 1972, and it boasts a long history and reputation among other fashion awards. Many popular Japanese stars from various sectors such as Namie Amuro, Ayumi Hamasaki and Ken Hirai are on the list of winners up to now.

In addition, Kara’s second album “Super Girl” that was released in Japan on November 23 ranked atop the Oricon weekly chart by recording 275,206 album sales as of November 29, which is an unprecedented number for an overseas female group. The agency said, “Kara ranked second on the Oricon weekly chart twice when they released their Korean best album and their first Japanese album, but it was their first time to top the chart.”
