  • Beatles to Receive Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award
  • [2013-12-16]

  •  Legendary British band the Beatles have been named as recipients of the Grammy's lifetime achievement award in the 56th Grammy Awards ceremony, which will take on January 26, AFP reported.

The Academy described the seven-times Grammy-winning Beatles as one of the most influential groups in music history, whose music was "rooted in 1950s rock and roll" but developed to range from "pop ballads to psychedelic rock."

It is not clear who will receive the Beathles honor in the upcoming prize-awarding ceremony in January. The two surviving Beatles are Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr.

McCartney sang at the last Grammy Awards show in January this year. He received “Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album” award for his “Kisses On The Bottom.”

Previous honorees for the Grammy lifetime achievement awards include American rock band the Isley Brothers, German electronic music pioneers Kraftwerk, and four other musicians.

The 56th Grammy Awards will be held in Staples Center in Los Angeles, U.S. on January 26 next year.
