  • 2AM: 'We Sing With Sentiment of FitzGerald'
  • [2012-03-16]
  • The vocal group with soft and sweet voices, 2AM, released their new mini album entitled "F. Scott Fitzgerald’s Way Of Love," and said, "Songs included in this new album resemble the novel 'The Great Gatsby.' We tried to express the painful love story that never shows its broken heart after breaking up and endures the pain inside."

The new album is 2AM's second official album, released one year and five months after their first official album entitled "Saint o'clock" had been released in October, 2010. At the press conference held at Ilji Art Hall in Cheongdamdong on March 13, the group members said, "We created this album with the motif from the novel written by Scott FitzGerald to present a more mature appearance." Cho Kwon said, "Many people might feel unfamiliar with FitzGerald's way of love because we also felt very strange when the producer Bang Si Hyuk first explained the concept of the album. But we could gradually understand the meaning after reading FitzGerald's novels and while working on our album. Our previous songs seems to have the lyrics to present direct feelings, but songs in the new album are very similar to the story of Gatsby in the novel 'The Great Gatsby.' He does not express his heartbreak even after breaking up, and feels pain alone instead."

The album "F. Scott Fitzgerald’s Way Of Love" contains a total of six songs including the title song "I Wonder If You Hurt Like Me" created by the producer Bang Si Hyuk and composer Kim Do Hoon. Most songs such as "You Were Mine" written by Bang Si Hyuk and singer Whee Sung and composed by Lee Sang Ho and Choi Yong Chan, "Erase All Our Memories" composed by Urban Zakapa, "One More Minute" written and composed by Park Sun Joo, and "How To Break Up Well" produced by Yoon Jong Shin are all about sad break up with lovers. The only love song "I Love You, I Love You" was written and composed by the group member Chang Min. Chang Min said, "We had wanted to make a sweet song that can be used at weddings, but actually our songs all sound very sad and there was no suitable song for a wedding ceremony (laugh). While I was making this song, I realized that the idea of saying 'I love you' to our fans would be very nice, so I made this song with multiple purposes. We might be able to sing this song for celebrating a wedding and confessing our love for our fans (laugh)."

The group members explained the reason why they included only ballad songs in their album, saying, "We want to show what we can do ballads the best." Jin Woon said, "We have shown R&B, ballads, and dance up to now, but this new album contains only ballad songs because we want to present the best thing that we can present." Cho Kwon said, "As you may know very well, the performance of clowns that we had shown when we sang the song 'I Was Wrong' was our huge mistake. We were shocked at that time and decided to stop singing dance music for a while after that." His witty answer provoked a huge laugh.

The group members reportedly want to present 2AM's own way of music with this new album. Chang Min said, "Bang Si Hyuk continuously told us that this album will be very critical for us, and we all agreed with his idea. We worked with various artists to produce this album in order to present our own unique style with our songs." Seul Ong said, "We have thought greatly about our style and concept besides the music itself. I can confidently say that we will be able to present a more mature image than before." Chang Min said, "Group members have been very busy for the past one and a half years to hold individual activities, but we all know very well that we can be empowered when we perform together as members of 2AM. I am very glad that we can make a comeback as 2AM. We will do our best."

During the press conference, 2AM sang the new songs "I Wonder If You Hurt Like Me" and "You Were Mine."
