  • More than 1,300 people including K-POP fans participated in an event in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Korea-Argentina diplomatic relations.

The “Autumn Night with Hanryu (Korean wave)” event heated up the stage in Buenos Aires, the capital city of Argentina, in the afternoon of May 13 (local time). According to the Korean ambassador to Argentina (Ambassador Han Byeong-gil) and the Director of the Korean Culture Center in Latin America (Director Yi Chong-yul), the event was held at “Eva Peron Outdoor Theater at Centennial Park“ (Anfiteatro Eva Peron Parque del Centenario) from 3 PM to 6 PM. This event was held in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Korea-Argentina diplomatic relations and more than 1,300 people including K-POP fans participated in the event, singing and dancing to the rhythm of K-POP during the event. This event made people feel the heat of Hanryu blowing up dynamically in Argentina recently.

During the event, various programs including K-POP performances, Samulnori (traditional Korean percussion quartet), a Taekwondo performance, and a video presentation for the introduction of Korean culture and the Korean Culture Center were provided. A person from Korean Culture Center in Latin America commented, “This event held at an outdoor theater in central downtown of Buenos Aires has become a wonderful opportunity to expose Korean culture and Hanryu to local people. By holding the event every year, we plan to make it a representative event to publicize Korean culture in Argentina.”

On the other hand, “The 3rd K-POP Contest of Latin America” for 18 Latin American countries will be held at the complex theater Paseo La Plaza in Buenos Aires this coming August 18. [Yonhap]
