  • Jang Geun-suk's "Just Crazy" Makes History on Japan's Oricon Chart
  • [2012-06-07]
  • Jang Geun-suk‘s first Japanese studio album, ‘Just Crazy‘, has topped Japan’s Oricon weekly chart!

Released on May 30th, the album topped the Oricon daily chart immediately after its release. In its first week alone, the album sold 88,000 copies, securing the top spot on the weekly chart as well.

Jang Geun-suk is the first male solo artist to top both the daily and weekly charts in eight years since Moriyama Naota in May 2004. He is also the first male international solo artist to achieve this feat and the second only after K-pop star BoA topped the chart with “Listen to My Heart” in 2002.

As remarkable as the feat is, it is no surprise as Jang’s first single release, “Let Me Cry”, topped the Oricon weekly chart last April becoming the first international artist to do so. It also means both his first single and studio albums ranked number one on the chart, which was a feat only accomplished by Uchida Yuki and Kondo Mashahiko over 17 years ago.

Jang’s latest album includes songs like “Stay” and “Rain” which was included in a Japanese commercial and “In My Dream,” which Jang wrote both the song and lyrics. “200 Miles” is another song in the album that is the theme song for the animation “Fairy Taie” which will open in theaters this August.  [Yonhap]
