  • Kim Hyun-joong’s New Japanese Single Climbs to #1 on Oricon Chart
  • [2012-07-12]
  • Singer Kim Hyun Joong has climbed to the #1 spot on the Japanese Oricon Weekly Chart with his second Japanese single HEAT. The single also hit #1 on the daily charts, selling 140,000 copies on the day of its release. In the first week of sales, 183,000 copies were sold firmly putting Kim in first place on the charts.

The figures are quite meaningful as they surpassed the record Kim’s previous single KISS KISS/Lucky Guy set back in January. The first album had reached 2nd place on the weekly charts selling 122,000 copies the first week.

In Oricon chart history, it is only the fifth time that an international solo artist climbed to the top for the first week of sales, and as for the number of albums sold in the first week, Kim holds the record for third place. Kim’s latest single includes “HEAT”, written by popular Japanese group B’z and “Let’s Party”.

Kim will perform live on July 14th and 15th at the Saitama Super Arena to celebrate the release of his second Japanese single. On the 14th, he will be putting on a collaboration performance with famous J-pop artist Naoto Inti Raymi called Double Fantasista ‘Great Assist’. On the following day, he will be holding two premium events for his fans who purchased his latest single called “HEAT 2012 In Japan”.  [Yonhap]
