  • 5,000 Fans Gather for Actor Lee Min-ho’s First Indonesia Fan Meet
  • [2013-03-28]
  • Actor Lee Min-ho has held his first fan meeting in Indonesia.

According to Lee’s management, Starhaus Entertainment, on March 27th, the Hallyu star held the fan meeting at Indonesia’s Jakarta Convention Center on March 23rd among 5,000 of his local fans.

Starhaus said many fans gathered at the airport to see Lee upon his arrival, and they even had to change the press conference venue due a mass of people showing up.

The agency said that the fan meeting venue is an important place for national events in Indonesia and it was rare for the hall to be rented out for a celebrity event. They added that many VIPs from Indonesia’s political and financial circles attended the fan meeting, showing Lee’s star power in the Southeast Asian country.

During the three-hour long event, Lee sang songs and various events were held for his fans. His agency added that many fans were so excited to see their favorite stars, they could not stay seated, and stood for the entire event.

Lee Min-ho’s popularity grew in Indonesia with the airing of the popular drama “Boys over Flowers” in 2009 as well as his other dramas like “Personal Taste” and “City Hunter”. His agency said there were many requests for the star to come visit Indonesia, but the event had to be pushed back due to Lee’s busy schedule.

Lee’s most recent drama, “Faith” is expected to air in Indonesia soon.

Meanwhile, as part of an event to give back to his supportive fans, Lee will be releasing a mini album in Indonesia this May and will go on an Asian tour starting in Korea in late May. [Yonhap]
