  • Psy named Tribeca Disruptive Innocation Awards Honoree

  • Singer Psy (Real name Park Jae-sang, 36), who became a global sensation with 'Gangnam Style', has been selected as the fourth annual Tribeca Disruptive Innovation Awards honoree, Psy’s agency YG Entertainment announced on April 3.

     


    The Tribeca Film Festival, which organized the awards ceremony, recently announced that Psy was included in the list of honorees for the 2013 Tribeca Disruptive Innovation Awards.




    The Tribeca Film Festival honors leading disruptive innovators or cultural phenomena who have made an impact on the worlds of business, technology, arts and entertainment.

     


    On the official homepage of The Tribeca Film Festival, Psy was introduced as the Korean artist who managed the feat of reaching 1 billion views on YouTube for the first time ever. Psy was praised for his hit song ‘Gangnam Style’, which they said is more than a just catchy tune and dance sequence, but a cultural phenomenon and ranked in the "Yale Book of Quotations Top 10 Quotes of the Year".

     

    The awards ceremony will take place on April 26 at the NYU Stern School of Business.

     

    Other honorees include ‘Forbes’ magazine and designer Norma Kamali. [Yonhap]
