  • Kara Win 'Most Popular International Group Award' at the 17th 'China Music Awards'
  • [2013-04-22]
  • Girl group Kara have won the Most Popular International Group Award at the 17th China Music Awards, DSP Media, the group's agency, announced on April 19.

Kara snatched the title in a ceremony held in Macao on April 18, beating off competition from some tough rivals such as British group One Direction, and Korean groups 2NE1 and Big Bang.

The China Music Awards, established in 1994, are the most well known of Chinese music award ceremonies and various Asian stars participate.

In addition to Kara, about 40 artists, including former Super Junior member Han Gyeong, Taiwanese singer Wilber Pan, Adam Lambert (who rose to stardom through American popular audition program "American Idols") participated in this year's awards ceremony.

Kara sang their hit song 'Step' during the ceremony. Kara said, "It is a honor to receive such a prestigious award. We will work hard to reward the support of Chinese fans." [Yonhap]
