Celebrities whose personal information was leaked to the public recently said via their legal representative on Jan. 20 that they will take legal measures to deal with the incident. They blamed an advertisement company, identified only by its first letter `C,` for not only failing to protect entertainers` personal information but also for collecting unconfirmed and groundless rumors about them. The circulation of false information about entertainers is an act of defamation and a serious crime. The concerned celebrities also urged media groups, portal websites and Internet users to delete their personal information posted online and to halt its circulation immediately. The entertainers said they will hold accountable everybody who is involved in the scandal, and apologized to their fans both in Korea and abroad for the disturbance. |
