The popular Korean television drama `Winter Sonata` will be shown in Irbil, northern Iraq, where the South Korean Zaytun military unit is currently stationed. The Korean Overseas Information Service said on May 24 that it had inked an agreement to show `Winter Sonata` with Kurdistan TV, which is based in the vicinity of the Zaytun unit. The drama will premiere in Iraq May 26 and will air every Thursday at 5 p.m. Kurdistan TV will re-run the drama every eight hours. "Kurdistan TV is a satellite broadcaster run by the Kurdish autonomous government. Not only Iraqi viewers but residents of other Middle East countries will be able to watch `Winter Sonata` on its channel. We expect this to be a good opportunity to promote Korea`s peaceful image in the Middle East," said an official from the Korean Overseas Information Service. |
