Japanese broadcasting company NHK announced on Oct. 22 that its satellite channel BS2 will broadcast `Winter Sonata` no-cut (20 episodes) over 11 days, starting Dec. 20. Episodes that will be aired no-cut via satellite channel will not be dubbed, and Japanese subtitles will be used. When `Winter Sonata` was broadcast by NHK, it was dubbed in Japanese. BS2 will air the series twice a day on weekdays, and once a day on Saturdays and Sundays.
"Each no-cut episode of `Winter Sonata` lasts 63-72 minutes, but we edited the Japanese-dubbed episodes into 60-minute pieces so far.
However, we decided to air the series no-cut because our viewers said they wanted to watch the series in its original version, exactly as it was broadcast in Korea ,` said a person close to NHK. The finale of `Winter Sonata,` which was broadcast by NHK on Aug. 23 recorded a viewer rating of 20 percent. By region, Kanto recorded the rating of 20.6 percent, Nagoya 22.5 percent, Kansai 23.8 percent. The average rating of all 20 episodes of `Winter Sonata` was 14-15 percent.
