The KBS drama "Brain," which will become the first medical drama in KBS and the first drama with the subject matter of the brain in Korea, will air its first episode on November 14. During the production presentation of "Brain" that was held at Sungmo Hospital in Seoul on November 8, all the production staff members and cast members expressed their pride and anticipation about this realistic medical drama.
The head of the KBS Content Department named Jeon Yong Gil expressed his anticipation by saying, "We have gone through many troubles before we chose the medical drama genre, and there have been many difficulties during the production because it contains the subject of medical specialists. We have tried to confirm every detail of the drama through study and interview to present a realistic human drama happening in the neurosurgery operating room and to perfectly realize the world of medical specialists. We will present vivid medical images by utilizing advanced technology equipment and computer graphic skills." The production director Yoo Hyun Ki said, "The most important aspect of our drama is 'reality.' Our writer has stayed at the hospital for almost two months to interview doctors and patients to write realistic episodes, and the chief nurse, who has twenty seven years of experience, is working as our adviser on the film set. And the neurosurgeon comes to the film set to direct every detail including trivial hand movements. As it is a drama, not a medical documentary program, we might sometimes have to present somewhat exaggerated settings in the drama, but we basically think that our drama will be a very realistic medical drama."
Shin Ha Kyun will make a comeback after an eight-year break by playing the protagonist named Lee Kang Hoon, and his appearance itself has drawn viewers' attention. Shin said, "When I decide on a work in which to appear, I usually consider its new features. I like a work that has a new setting and new characters, and I liked this drama because of these new features. These days, I always become excited on the film set. I actually felt pressure in the beginning of filming, but the worries completely changed to excitement and anticipation. I wonder how viewers will watch this drama." And Jeong Jin Young, who will present a model doctor by playing an eccentric professor named Kim Sang Chul in the drama, said, "There are many scenes in which I have to conduct surgical operations, and a neurosurgeon helps me to film those scenes. People who are interested in the human brain will find it really interesting."
Actress Choi Jeong Won will play the role of a doctor for the first time since her debut, and she said, "I will play a lovely character. I even think that I must have been blessed to play this kind of good character. I really appreciate that. I have to present more detailed acting compared to my previous characters. I am trying my best to play her perfectly for the viewers." Actor Cho Dong Hyuk, who will play a rival of Shin Ha Kyun in the drama, said, "I lost almost 15 kilograms, and I think that it can help presenting my character. I have to compete with Shin Ha Kyun in the drama, and I am losing more weight thanks to the competitive atmosphere with him. Shin Ha Kyun is a great actor, so actually I am controlling my diet to lose more weight to present more sensitive acting."
"Brain" will deal with exciting and interesting stories that make people experience touching moments through various episodes, and it will also present mysterious stories of the brain that has not yet been completely found out. It will unprecedentedly air its first and second episodes concurrently on November 14."
