  • 'Quiz Show: The Golden Ladder' Visits Hongik University
  • [2009-06-08]
  • [TV Report] On May 31 “Quiz Show: The Golden Ladder” visited Hongik University, which is often regarded as the symbol of youth and the future. Many talented Hongik University students participated in the show. They displayed their best talents to win a 5 million won scholarship.

Diverse scholarships and competition for winning the heart of the “campus queen”

The “campus queen” of Hongik University stood apart from any campus queen we have met so far. Lee Do-kyung has graduated with honors from the college of humanitarian studies and finished second in the overall university ranking. Moreover, she is an enthusiastic volunteer worker and has rich social experience. Plus, she holds a third-degree black belt in taekwondo. Many students staged passionate performances to win her heart.

Cheering of friends and fellow students

The students did their utmost to win the contest. Cute female students from the cheering squad captivated the campus queen’s heart with their astonishing flexibility. They also staged an enrapturing performance, adding fun to the competition. The participants’ friends cheered them on enthusiastically. The fans of an American football club performed a charming dance to the Girls’ Generation’s song “Gee” and staged a mini-football match to cheer on the team. A student from the college of oriental studies drew a flower on her skirt in a matter of seconds with the help of her friends, evoking an exclamation from the audience.

The competition for winning the scholarship was especially fierce. Three teams made it to the final. Members of the American football team said they decided to participate in the competition to win money that they needed to buy uniforms, because they receive only 200,000 won per semester in subsidies. One male student with the nickname “Geum Jan-di” drew everyone’s attention by displaying his hidden talents. He also participated in a quiz, and turned out to be a very erudite person who once was among the final four on one episode of KBS TV’s Golden Bell. He easily passed the second round and even reached the fourth round but unfortunately ultimately failed.

The emcee of the show, Ji Seok-jin, was tricked by his assistants, Boom and Lee Teuk. Sadly enough, none of the three teams won the scholarship, but they showed off their enthusiasm and passion to the full.
