  • Kim Kuk-jin Moved to Tears by His Mother’s Letter
  • [2009-06-15]
  • [TV Report] Comedian Kim Kuk-jin was moved to tears by his mother’s letter when appearing on the KBS TV show “Happy Sunday” on June 7 in the “Men’s Tears” mission. Other guests -- Lee Kyung-kyu, Lee Yun-seok and Kim Sung-min -- also cried. Kim Kuk-jin was initially a bit confused on the show, learning later than the others about the “tears” mission, and didn’t shed a tear at other guests’ moving stories.

Kim Kuk-jin says he promised himself in front of his father’s grave that he would never cry again and would always protect his mother. But no matter how hard he tried to suppress his tears, his mother’s letter tugged at his heart strings. Letters from the families of the other guests were also very heart-moving.

Kim Kuk-jin personally read his mother’s letter aloud. The letter read, "Kuk-jin, it breaks my heart to see you smile in front of me no matter what, even when deep inside you’re going through an ordeal.” While reading it, Kim had to pause many times to suppress his tears. When he finished reading it, he burst into tears.

Kim Tae-won and Lee Yun-seok also read letters from their mothers and were moved to tears by them as well. After the show aired, viewers gave positive feedback on the message board, saying that the show was very touching. (Photos: scenes from the show)
