  • JYJ’s Tokyo Dome Concert Attracts 150,000 Fans
  • [2013-04-08]
  • Live broadcast at theaters across Japan of their first concert in three years drew 70,000 people.

A total of 150,000 Japanese fans watched JYJ perform at their concert at Tokyo Dome  in Japan on April 4.

Thousands of people, who took fans, T-shirts and shopping bags emblazoned with JYJ logos, swarmed to the square of Tokyo Dome and many even stood in long lines on the stairs to see the concert.

Recently Hallyu suffered a setback due to the worsening relationship between Korea and Japan, but the atmosphere at Thursday’s concert appeared to be unaffeced.

JYJ took to the Tokyo Dome stage after an absence of nearly three years since their last show in June in 2010.

The JYJ members have been through hard times.

They had not been able to perform in Japan because of a legal issue surrounding the cancellation of an exclusive contract with the Japanese entertainment agency Avex.

The three JYJ members - Kim Jae-joong, Park Yoo-chun and Kim Jun-su - performed energetically onstage, as if they were determined to make up for the time they  had lost.

They seemed to be more mature and stronger before an audience of 50,00O spectators after they completed a world tour in 15 Asian, North Amercian and European cities in 2011 and 2012.

Tokyo Dome was filled with a roar when JYY appeared onstage at around 5:30 p.m., shortly after colorful performances by dancers.

Completing the ‘Rainy Blue’ stage, JYJ gave thanks to fans who had trusted them and waited.

Kim Jun-su stated, "It took a long time for us to come back. We would not forget your love."

Kim Jae-joong commented, “We can meet you again due to your trust in us and waiting for us. We will work hard to leave behind no regrets and enable you to have trust in our future."

Fans were moved by the members’ frankness, and cheered them warm-heartedly and promised their consistent trust in them.

JYJ held its concert ‘The Return of the JYJ’ at Tokyo Dome for three consecute days from Apr 2 to Apr 4. The 150,000 seats were all sold out right after the sales begun. Fans who could not get tickets saw the live broadcast of the concert at 113 theaters across Japan on April 4. The admission fee (4,500 Japanese yen) was nearly the half of price of concert ticket (10,500 Japanese yen, or about 124,000 Korean won), but the live broadcast at theaters attracted 70,000 people.  [Yonhap]
